Introduction to Namibia hunting Safaris
Namibia Hunting Safaris is today the name of the first hunting-and guestfarm Düsternbrook (since 1962) in Namibia. It is an official registered Safari Operator since 1988. Ranch Düsternbrook, 12 000 ha ( 30 000 acre) is the base of the hunting operations of NAMIBIA HUNTING SAFARIS.
Accommodation

Namibia Hunting Safaris is run in family tradition. Guests are accommodated in individually furnished single or double rooms or in luxury safari tents, all with bath ensuite, hot and cold water, and 24 hrs 220 V electricity. The main house has a stunning view into the surrounding African landscape and it was build in the early settler time. All the buildings are built from natural stone. The meals are taken in the main house, on its veranda or in our thatch roofed Lapa next to a big pool surrounded by palm trees.
Location
The hunting area is convieniently close, 50km, to the capital of Namibia, Windhoek, and only 90km from the international airport. The hunting area is regarded as a non-malaria area. Windhoek is a clean city with modern infrastructure and amenities such as shops, good restaurants, hospitals and schools.
The landscape is from flat to hilly and mountainous. It is very scenic and we have a good number and good quality of game. We are member of the Windhoek Greenbelt development, which again is a member of NAM-PLACE, a new development of Nambia which you will hear much more often in the future. The Khomas Hochland Conservancy ( 500 000 acre), of which we are a member far more than 20 years, has won the 1998 NAPHA (Namibia proffesional hunting association) prize for the best quality of trophies in the country. For certain game species we also hunt in other areas like the Kalahari or in the east of the country.
The proximity to the capital and the international airport saves transfer time and fees. We only take limited hunters per year to offer good trophy quality.

Namibia
Namibia is a great country with fantastic landscapes and weather conditions. The country is regarded as the safest in Africa, making it easy for your partner to join you. It hosts a good combination of real African bush with abundant and well looked after wildlife and European standard accommodation and food.
The central (even around the capital) and southern part of the country is very sparesly populated, less than 1.5Person/sqkm. Most people live in the cities or in the north of the country. A few kilometers driving from the capital is sufficient to be in the middle of the bush.
We are also central to all tourist destinations like Etosha National Game Park or the Namib and Kalahari Desert, the famous sand dunes at "Sossusvlei" in the south, or Swakopmund, a very popular little town on the west coast, where fishing is very good.
